Modesto Car Accident Involves Drunk Driver

A 31-year-old man who was killed in a car accident in Modesto the morning of February 13, 2011, has been identified as Derek Rocha. The Modesto Bee reports that the suspected DUI collision occurred when the driver of the vehicles, Antonio Vitor Lourenco, lost control and crashed into a tree. Rocha was thrown out of the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Lourenco was booked on suspicion of DUI, vehicular manslaughter and driving unlicensed. An investigation is ongoing.

DUI Collision in Modesto Causes Major Injuries

Claudia Gutierrez, 34, sustained major injuries in a Modesto car accident after the man who was driving the SUV they were in, lost control and crashed, The Merced Sun-Star reports. California Highway Patrol officials say the major injury crash occurred early morning on May 23, 2010. The driver of the vehicle, Willie Blacks Jr., 40, was driving a 2000 Ford Expedition in the southbound fast lane of Highway 99, near Golden State Boulevard, when the SUV drifted to the left of the roadway.
