Tuan Phan, 49, suffered fatal injuries on the job in an industrial accident in Orange County, the afternoon of August 19, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the industrial accident occurred at American Apparel in the 12000 block of Pala Drive in Garden Grove. Phan was operating a circular knitting machine when it crushed him. He was transported to a hospital in Anaheim where he died from his injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

At least one person was injured in an Orange County car accident, which officials say, involved two vehicles, the afternoon of June 20, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury accident occurred at the intersection of Western and Lampson avenues in Garden Grove. The report does not specify what caused the two vehicles – a Toyota 4Runner and a Honda Accord -- to collide at the intersection. None of the four occupants of the Honda was injured, but the driver of the Toyota was trapped inside the vehicle and was hospitalized following the crash.

An 80-year-old man was killed in a Garden Grove car accident after his bicycle was hit by a pickup truck. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal bicycle accident occurred the morning of January 18, 2011 near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Jennrich Avenue. The driver of a Ford F-250 was making a right turn out of a parking lot when he struck the elderly bicyclist. The man died at the scene. The 36-year-old male driver was not cited pending an official investigation. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs are involved.

According to California Highway Patrol's 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were no fatalities, but 57 injuries involving bicycle accidents in Garden Grove. A school office employee who sustained serious injuries in a dog bite incident the afternoon of June 8, 2010, has been identified as 65-year-old Marilyn Reyes. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Reyes was attacked by a loose dog, which wandered into the office. Reyes was attacked unprovoked and bitten numerous times. She suffered puncture wounds and had to undergo surgery to repair a ruptured artery. The dog has been quarantined in a county facility. Street-racing may have been the cause of a Garden Grove car accident that injured four teenagers who were heading home to Huntington Beach from their prom at the Disneyland Hotel. An Orange County car accident caused by a suspected drunk driver left a 12-year-old girl injured the evening of January 7, 2010. The Orange County Register reports that the injury pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Clinton Street and Cardinal Way when the girl who was walking across the street was struck by a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Alvaro Hernandez. The girl suffered a broken toe and cuts to her arms. Police officers who responded to the scene conducted field sobriety tests and determined that Alvaro was under the influence.
