A man sustained severe injuries in a San Francisco pedestrian accident after he was run over by a Muni bus. ABC News reports that the injury accident happened the afternoon of February 23, 2010 on Stanyan Street, near Fulton Street. Officials said initially that the pedestrian tripped and fell down as he ran to catch the 33-Stanyan bus. The bus was apparently pulling away from the bus stop. Nine passengers on an Orange Line bus were injured in a Los Angeles car accident after the eastbound commuter bus hit another vehicle. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the accident occurred the afternoon of October 30, 2009 when the bus was going east on Chandler Boulevard near Valley Glen when it crashed into a vehicle at an intersection in the 5400 block of Coldwater Canyon Avenue. Los Angeles fire officials said none of the injuries seemed to be major.

At least five people died and dozens were injured in an Orange County based bus accident on Highway 101 in Soledad, California, carrying French tourists who crashed and rolled over on a freeway overpass, as the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Several passengers were thrown from the bus and onto the overpass as well as the freeway below. The death toll is expected to increase as many of the injured are believed to be in critical condition. A car product defect that caused a Los Angeles bus fire on April 23, 2009 injured 27 people in suburban Calabasas, according to an Associated Press report. The Commuter Express was heading north on Highway 101 a few miles northwest of Los Angeles when it caught fire. The driver noticed flames and smoke coming from the rear of the bus. The driver pulled over and the 37 passengers aboard the bus were able to escape. However, 26 people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation while one woman was taken to the hospital for further observation. The cause of this fire is under investigation. Officials say it started in the engine compartment and may have been caused by a mechanical malfunction.
