Hit-and-Run Car Accident Critically Injures Bicyclist

Authorities in Santa Rosa have identified a bicyclist who was critically injured by a hit-and-run driver the afternoon of October 9, 2010, as 57-year-old Anoush Zebarjadian. The Santa Rosa Press-democrat reports that Zebarjadian was struck by a vehicle, described as a dark-colored, older model SUV, as he was riding in the Levi's King Ridge GranFondo race. The driver struck Zebarjadian who fell to the ground. Witnesses said the driver of the SUV then accelerated and sped away. Police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver. Zebarjadian suffered severe head injuries and remains in critical condition. Read the rest »

 

California Man Seriously Injured in Bicycle Accident

A 56-year-old man from Lodi, California, was seriously injured in a car accident in Ada County, Iowa the morning of June 26, 2010 after he was struck by two vehicles. According to a KTVB news report, the cyclist was riding north on Highway 55, when a 34-year-old man driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero north on the highway, clipped the bicyclist with the passenger side mirror of his SUV. The rider fell off the bicycle and on to the highway where he was hit by a Ford pickup whose driver was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. Bicyclist Injured in San Francisco Muni Accident

A man was injured in a bicycle accident after he was struck by a San Francisco Municipal Railway streetcar the night of June 2, 2010. According to a CBS News report, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of 7th and Market streets. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Street Racing Caused Fatal San Bernardino Bicycle Accident, Officials Say

Jorge Alvarado, the 27-year-old pro biker killed in a San Bernardino car accident on April 8, 2010, was struck by a teenage driver involved in a street-race, The San Bernardino Sun reports. San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials say Patrick Roraff, 18, and a passenger were traveling north on Greenspot Road, in Highland, in a 2002 Honda Accord. Orange County Hit-and-Run Car Accident Critically Injures Bicyclist

A 54-year-old man has been critically injured in an Orange County car accident after he was hit by a car while riding his bike on an Anaheim street. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the man, who has not yet been identified, was heading west on Broadway between Atchinson and Kroeger streets the evening of November 2, 2009 when he rode around a parked car. A vehicle that was also headed west on Broadway struck the bicyclist. Anaheim police said the motorist drove away leaving the injured bicyclist lying on the street.

Orange County Car Accident Kills 80-year-old Bicyclist

Edelgard Owens, 80, was killed in an Orange County car accident after her bicycle was struck by a pickup truck the evening of October 21, 2009. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Owens was riding on East Imperial Highway when she got in the crosswalk in an attempt to cross Prospect Avenue in Yorba Linda, Brea police officials said. At the time, a pickup truck was turning left from Imperial on to Prospect and crashed into Owens. She was taken to a local hospital where she died.

Orange County Truck Accident Seriously Injures Bicyclist

A man was seriously injured in an Orange County truck accident after a big rig struck his bicycle near the 91 Freeway off-ramp on Kraemer Boulevard the morning of October 8, 2009 in Anaheim, California. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the bicyclist was riding southbound along the west curb of Kraemer approaching the eastbound off-ramp of the 91 Freeway. The semi-truck was stopped at the off-ramp, Anaheim police said.

Ventura Hit-and-Run Car Accident Injures 7-year-old

A 7-year-old boy was seriously injured in a Ventura car accident after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle across the street. The hit-and-run accident occurred the night of September 9, 2009 when the boy was riding his bike across the intersection of Seneca Street and Cameron Street, according to a news report in the Ventura County Star. A man and a woman in a blue Volkswagen Beetle that hit the boy stopped briefly to ask about the boy's health after the crash and then drove away, Ventura police officials said. A neighbor, who recognized the child, offered to walk him home. The boy began "feeling sick" after he got home and was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for serious internal injuries. He was apparently not wearing a helmet, police said. Bicyclist injured in San Francisco Area Car Accident

Mark Howell, 50, was injured in a San Francisco car accident after a driver struck Howell's bicycle the afternoon of August 30, 2009. The driver apparently took his eyes off the road to look at a nearby Sonoma County sheriff's patrol car when he hit Howell, Santa Rosa police said. The driver then abandoned his 1999 Ford Windstar van leaving the keys in the ignition and fled the scene of the accident. Police are reportedly, still looking for the hit-and-run driver.

Orange County Bicycle Accident Injures One

A person crossing the northbound 5 Freeway off-ramp suffered from a Irvine bicycle accident the morning of June 11, 2009, The Orange County Register reports. California Highway Patrol officials say the accident occurred at the 5 Freeway off-ramp on southbound Jeffrey Road at Roosevelt. The injured victim was taken to an area hospital with injuries. Orange County Sheriff's Department's officials say the person may have been walking across the off-ramp.
