The family of Jacqueline and Raechel Houck, sisters who were killed in a car accident after their rental Chrysler PT Cruiser went out of control and crashed, is heading an effort to require Enterprise Rent-a-Car to not rent out recalled vehicles that have not been repaired. According to a news report in The Philadelphia Inquirer, the women, both in their 20s, were in a car, which had been recalled for defective power steering hoses that can break and pose and fire hazard. Rollover Accident Caused by Driver Who Made Unsafe Lane Change
Francis Torney, 86, died recently of injuries she suffered in an SUV rollover accident that occurred on December 18, 2009. According to a Bay City News report, Torney suffered a cervical fracture and other injuries in the Highway 101 crash when another driver made an unsafe lane change. California Highway Patrol officials said Torney was with two other women in an Isuzu SUV when 54-year-old William Stock, who was driving a 2002 BMW south on Highway 101, moved into the same lane as the Isuzu. Driver Killed in San Diego Car Accident
A man was killed in a San Diego car accident the morning of December 3, 2009 after the pickup truck he was driving collided with another vehicle on the Interstate 8 and crashed. According to a 10news report, the driver lost control of his 1990 Toyota pickup truck for unknown reasons. California Highway Patrol officials said the truck swerved to the right and crashed into a 2004 Dodge Ram, which then struck a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Toyota went off the freeway, down an embankment and plowed through a chain link fence before rolling over and coming to rest on its side. The pickup driver, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the other vehicles were, fortunately, not injured.
