Honda Motor Company has issued an auto defect recall along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for about 126,000 Goldwing motorcycles because of possible brake defects. According to Consumer Reports, Honda has identified an issue with the motorcycles' secondary brake master cylinders that may cause the rear brakes to drag, increasing the risk of a collision. Riding a motorcycle with a rear brake that is stuck may also generate enough heat to pose a fire risk.

Jorge Carrillo, 46, of La Habra, was killed in an Orange County car accident when his 1991 Chevy Blazer left the roadway and struck a tree. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car accident occurred along North Harbor Boulevard near Brea Boulevard in Fullerton, the night of November 29, 2011. Officials are investigating what caused the SUV to leave the roadway and crash. Investigators are also trying to determine if alcohol, fatigue, or a medical issue contributed to the collision.

James Scott Rogers, 46, was killed in a Riverside County motorcycle accident after he lost control of his Harley-Davidson and crashed. According to a news report in The Desert Sun, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Thousand Palms Canyon Road in Desert Hot Springs, the afternoon of November 27, 2011. Officials say Rogers veered off the road and struck the dirt shoulder. Rogers, who was wearing a novelty helmet that did not meet federal safety standards, suffered fatal head injuries and died at the scene of the crash. It is not clear what caused him to lose control of the Harley-Davidson.

A driver was injured in a Los Angeles car accident involving a vehicle rollover. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the injury accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway in South Pasadena, the morning of November 17, 2011. Emergency crews had to extricate the victim from the damaged vehicle. The driver suffered a head injury. Officials have not said how or why the vehicle crashed or rolled over. The extent of the victim's injuries is also unknown at this time.

Suk Whang, 80 and Chung Whang, 85, were killed in a Los Angeles car accident after their vehicle went off the roadway and crashed into a tree. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the fatal car accident occurred in the 1100 block of South Grand Avenue in Glendora, the morning of October 21, 2011. Police say the couple's Toyota Cressida drifted into the center median and hit a eucalyptus tree. Both suffered critical injuries and died at a local hospital. Officials are still investigating the cause of this tragic car accident.

John Cummings, 66, was killed in an Orange County car accident when his Saturn SL2 sedan veered off the roadway and struck a tree. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Trabuco Canyon Road, near Trabuco Oaks Drive, in Trabuco Canyon, the night of August 14, 2011. The driver sustained fatal injuries when the Saturn left the roadway and hit an oak tree. It is not clear at the moment what led to the crash or if any other vehicles were involved.

Jacob John Niko, 22, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after he lost control of his 2002 Chevy Trailblazer SUV. According to a news report in The Long Beach Press-Telegram, the fatal rollover accident occurred early morning on August 8, 2011 on the westbound 91 Freeway, near Main Street, in Carson. California Highway Patrol officials say Niko's vehicle crashed and overturned, ejecting him on to the roadway. Officials are still investigating the cause of this fatal crash.

A 60-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman were killed in an Orange County motorcycle accident when their Harley Davidson veered out of control and crashed. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal motorcycle crash occurred on the 405 Freeway in Seal Beach, the morning of July 17, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say the Harley Davidson's male rider was travelling in the freeway's northbound lane when he lost control, cut across the freeway and struck a car. The rider and the female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle and hit a cement wall. The two suffered fatal blunt force injuries and passed away shortly after the crash at a nearby hospital.

Brianne Rodriguez, 16, was seriously injured in a Fresno area car accident after the vehicle in which she was a passenger rolled over. According to a news report in The Fresno Bee, the major injury crash occurred the night of June 5, 2011. Brianne Rodriguez was in the back seat of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Alejandro Sepeda.

The pickup was traveling west on Avenue 184 in Porterville when Sepeda swerved to avoid a dog. The truck rolled over, went down an embankment and landed on the tree. A branch broke through the back window and impaled Brianne's leg. Sepeda sustained relatively minor injuries. Two other passengers -- Brittany Rodriguez and Priscilla Chavez, both 16 – sustained minor to moderate injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

My heart goes out to the injured victims of this car accident. I wish all the victims, especially the severely injured Brianne Rodriguez, the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. These victims will be in my prayers. Read the rest »

Zada Louise Fields, 80, of Kingman, Arizona, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after her car rolled over along Route 66 in Mojave Desert. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal rollover crash occurred the afternoon of May 23, 2011 in Essex, near Needles. California Highway Patrol officials say Fields' 2010 Chevy Aveo drifted onto the soft asphalt shoulder. She steered back to the left, but lost control of the vehicle. Her car rolled over and came to rest in the open desert. Fields was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say Fields was wearing her seatbelt, but "not properly."
