Once again this year, us here at BISNAR | CHASE participated in the Adopt-A-Family program, put on by Share Our Selves (SOS) in Costa Mesa. The program has been a staple at our law firm for many years now, and the tradition has become one of the staff's favorite charities.
How It Works
Each year we pick two families to buy presents for that might have hardly any presents without our support. We truly want these families to enjoy their Christmas and it warms our hearts to be able to provide for them. About a week before Christmas we all get together to wrap the presents and eat pizza. Authorities in Orange County are looking for a hit-and-run truck driver who they say caused an injury car accident and then left the scene. The Orange County Register reports that the truck accident happened on the southbound 57 Freeway the morning of October 14, 2010 in Placentia. A Honda Civic was struck from behind by a large truck. The Honda then went under a second big-rig. The first truck, which rear-ended the Honda, did not stop and left the scene. The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A man sustained serious injuries in a bicycle accident after his bike collided with a trolley in La Mesa the evening of August 31, 2010. 10news reports that the collision happened at the intersection of Severin and Amaya drives. The bicyclist suffered several fractures and possible head injuries. Initially, police said the trolley struck the bicyclist, but later confirmed that it was the bicycle that struck the trolley. La Mesa police officials suspect that the bicyclist may have gone around a trolley arm to get through the intersection. Officials are still investigating the incident. Read the rest »

A 52-year-old man who was critically injured in a car accident in Los Angeles has been identified as veteran California Highway Patrol Officer Phillip Ortiz. KTLA News reports that the collision, which involved multiple vehicles, occurred the morning of June 9, 2010 on the 405 Freeway in Culver City, and was set off by a driver who illegally passed traffic on the right shoulder. Ortiz had made a traffic stop when he was hit by an Infiniti sedan. He was taken to an area trauma center with life-threatening injuries. Four others victims were also transported to hospitals, of which one had been severely injured, officials said. Read the rest »
Earlier this month, 4 young adults lost their lives in a Van Nuys car accident. The accident happened on Roscoe Boulevard between Balboa Place and Hayvenhurst Avenue. The 22-year old driver of the car lost control and killed herself and her three passengers. Read the rest »
A bicycle accident in Azusa caused critical injuries to an 8-year-old boy the evening of April 30, 2010. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports that the boy was riding his bike in the 100 block of North Pasadena Avenue when a vehicle hit him. The child was taken to an area hospital with major injuries. Investigating officials are saying that the driver was not impaired at the time. But an investigation is ongoing. So far, there have been no citations or arrests. Read the rest »
