OCTA Employee Seriously Injured in Santa Ana Car Accident

An Orange County Transportation Authority employee, who was driving an agency-issued Toyota Prius, was seriously injured in a Santa Ana car accident involving a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury collision occurred in the 200 block of North Harbor Boulevard near First Street the morning of October 5, 2012. Police say a Chevy Tahoe struck the Prius. The woman was extricated from the Prius and transported to an area hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Tahoe was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence. The investigation is ongoing.

My heart goes out to this injured OCTA employee who has suffered severe injuries in this collision. I wish her the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. She will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers.

Santa Ana Pedestrian Accident Causes Major Injuries

A woman suffered major injuries in a Santa Ana car accident after a vehicle struck her as she was crossing the road. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury crash occurred at the intersection of Bristol Street and West Park Lane the night of August 15, 2012. Police say the woman who was in her 30s was crossing the intersection when a vehicle that was traveling north on Bristol hit her. The driver stopped and tried to give aid to the woman. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital. Investigators are still trying to determine who had the right-of-way at the time. No citations or arrests were reported.

One Injured in Santa Ana Freeway Traffic Collision

One person was injured in a car crash in Santa Ana after his car was rear-ended by another vehicle. According to a news article in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred the morning of July 11, 2012 in the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway at East Main Street. California Highway Patrol officials say the driver of a Honda Civic was taken to a nearby hospital after a Mazda pickup truck hit his vehicle from behind and pushed it into a Chevy Tahoe. The Honda was crushed between the SUV and the pickup truck. The nature and extent of the victim’s injuries is not known at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Driver Killed in Santa Ana Car Accident

Francisco Becerra, 27, was fatally injured in a Santa Ana car accident after he lost control of his car and crashed. According to The Orange County Register, the incident occurred early morning on June 17, 2012. Officials say Becerra was driving a 1995 BMW north on Fairview Street when he passed Borchard Avenue, lost control of the car, and smashed into the center median and a tree. Becerra was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The male passenger in the BMW was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Man’s Arm Severed in Santa Ana Industrial Accident

A 63-year-old man suffered major injuries on the job after his arm became stuck inside a machine and got severed just below the elbow. According to a news article in The Orange County Register, the industrial accident occurred the night of May 17, 2012 at GE Aviation Systems at 2040 E. Dyer Road in Santa Ana. When emergency personnel arrived at the plant, they found the man’s arm still stuck in the machinery. Co-workers had created a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Cal/OSHA officials are investigating the cause of this injury accident. The worker and his severed arm were transported to an area trauma center. It is not known whether surgeons were able to reattach his arm.

My thoughts and prayers are with the injured worker and his family members for what they are going through at this time. I truly hope the worker will have a speedy and complete recovery and that doctors will be able to reattach his arm.

Three Including Police Officer Injured in Santa Ana Hit-and-Run Crash

Three people including a police officer were injured in a Santa Ana car accident in which a hit-and-run driver was involved. According to The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of First and Sullivan streets, the evening of May 16, 2012. Police say the officer was eastbound in his patrol car when the driver of a Ford pickup truck pulled in front of him while attempting to turn from westbound First to Sullivan Street.

The officer swerved to avoid the pickup truck and ended up hitting another vehicle. The officer and two passengers in the vehicle that was struck were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup fled the crash site.
