Runaway Semi Truck Crashes Leaving Two Dead

A car driver identified as 59-year-old Robert McCown and Juan Navarro, 33, a truck driver, were killed in a San Bernardino County truck accident, the afternoon of October 22, 2012.

According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal accident occurred on the Highway 330 between Highland and Running Springs. California Highway Patrol officials say Navarro was driving the semi truck on Highway 330 when he either fell out or jumped from the truck.

The out-of-control truck crashed into a 2005 Acura driven by McCown. Both drivers died at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Pedestrian Fatally Injured in San Bernardino County Collision

Carl Evans, 30, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after a vehicle that drifted out of traffic lanes struck him. According to a news article in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred early morning on September 23, 2012 along Highway 18 near the lower Waterman Canyon turnoff in Crestline. Officials say Evans was struck by 45-year-old Margaret Stegenga who had been drinking. However, Stegenga has not been arrested “because the degree of her alcohol impairment” has not yet been determined. Investigators have established that Evans, who was walking beside the roadway, was hit by Stegenga’s vehicle that drifted out of traffic lanes.

Skateboarder Killed in San Bernardino Car Accident

Nicholas Drew Royals, 22, was killed in a car crash in San Bernardino after a car struck him. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred early morning on September 10, 2012 on Benson Avenue near Moreno Street in Montclair. Police say Royals was heading south on Benson when a 1995 Nissan Sentra driven by a man struck him from behind. The driver stopped at the scene and called 911. Royals was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver apparently told officials that he could not see Royals on the roadway. The investigation is ongoing.

San Bernardino Car Accident Becomes Fatal

Javier Sanchez, 33, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after his vehicle veered off the roadway, rolled over and burst into flames. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal crash occurred on Greenspot Road near Santa Ana Canyon Road in Highland early morning on September 3, 2012. Police say Sanchez’s car ran off the road and rolled over. Sanchez was ejected from the vehicle. He was found several feet from the burning car and pronounced dead by paramedics. Officials are still looking into what caused this fatal car accident.

Driver Arrested in San Bernardino County Hit-and-Run Collision

A 57-year-old man was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Rancho Cucamonga that killed 25-year-old bicyclist, Alex Patrick Silva. According to a KTLA news report, the fatal collision occurred the night of July 12 on Wilson Avenue east of San Sevaine Road. Police say Silva was riding his bike with a friend when Sanders’ red Chevy Corvette convertible struck him from behind and then fled the scene. Silva was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses were able to give officials a description of the car. Detectives arrested Sanders in his Fontana home on July 19, 2012, a week after the fatal hit-and-run. He has been charged with hit-and-run resulting in death. Sanders is out on a $100,000 bail.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family members and friends of Alex Patrick Silva, who are mourning his tragic loss. I offer them my deepest condolences. The Silva family has established a memorial fund at the Fontana Wells Fargo Bank branch under the name, “Alex Patrick Silva Memorial Fund.”

Toddler Killed in Upland Car Accident

Julia Martinez, 2, of Upland, was killed in a San Bernardino County car accident involving four vehicles. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal car crash occurred on Mountain Avenue south of Arrow Highway in Upland, the afternoon of July 17, 2012. Officials say the toddler was a passenger in a vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic and struck three vehicles. Julia Martinez was pronounced dead the morning of July 18, 2012. Following the crash, four adults and another child were sent to area hospitals. No arrests have been made and the accident remains under investigation.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family members and friends of Julia Martinez following this tragic car accident. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.
