Pedestrian Fatally Injured in Corona Car Accident

David Cortez, 58, was killed in a Corona collision after a vehicle hit him as he crossed the road, the evening of October 28, 2012. According to a CBS news report, the pedestrian accident occurred near the intersection of Sixth and Merrill streets.

Police say Cortez was walking southbound across Sixth Street when a vehicle driven by Israel Andrade, 23, struck him. Officials suspect Cortez was not in a designated crosswalk when the incident occurred. Cortez died at the scene. Andrade was not arrested or cited. One fatality and 28 injuries were reported as a result of pedestrian accidents in Corona, according to California Highway Patrol’s 2010 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). Man Killed in Head-On Collision with Suspected Drunk Driver

Ramon Celaya, 20, died from injuries sustained in a Riverside car accident, which officials say was caused by a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the DUI crash occurred the night of September 29, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say Celaya was driving along Highway 74 near Winchester Road. At the time, 26-year-old Edilberto Sixtos was fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run collision when he crossed over the double yellow line and veered into Celaya’s Toyota Tacoma.

Celaya, Sixtos and two teenagers were transported to an area hospital with major injuries. Sixtos was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run causing injury. Celaya died from his injuries the evening of October 2, 2012. Officials expect to file more charges against Sixtos in connection with the fatal collision.

Man Killed in Riverside County Car Accident

William Steele, 41, was fatally injured in a Riverside County car accident after the vehicle in which he was traveling collided with another car at a street intersection. According to The Press-Enterprise, the collision occurred at the intersection of State Street and Esplanade Avenue in San Jacinto, the night of September 18, 2012. Officials say the two vehicles crashed causing Steele’s SUV to burst into flames. Steele was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene. The other driver was uninjured. The investigation is ongoing.

Pedestrian Killed in Wildomar Crash

Humberto Twobulls, 21, of Billings, Montana, was killed in a Riverside car accident involving a minivan, the morning of September 15, 2012. According to the Riverside County Coroner’s website, the pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Clinton Keith Road and Iodine Springs Road in Wildomar. The Murrieta Patch reports that the pedestrian suffered severe head trauma and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The minivan that struck the victim was owned by a dry-cleaning company. The investigation is ongoing.

Man Killed in Hemet Hit-and-Run Crash

Alcides Flores-Landaverde, 23, was killed in a Hemet car accident, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news account in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal crash occurred early morning on September 11, 2012 near the intersection of Florida Avenue and Juanita Street in downtown Hemet. Flores-Landaverde’s body was found in the street.

Police have released more information about the pickup truck that hit the victim and drove away from the scene. Evidence found at the scene indicates that the vehicle was probably a silver 2000 to 2004 Nissan Frontier that likely has front-end damage and chipped paint. Images supplied by the department also show a license plate trim with shark’s tooth spikes. The front grill of the vehicle was broken off and left at the scene. The pickup was last seen heading west on Florida Avenue. Anyone with information about this fatal hit-and-run car accident is urged to contact Hemet police at 951-765-2433 and refer to file number 12-900267.

Elderly Man Killed in Banning Car Accident

Roy Azarnoff, 81, was fatally injured in a Riverside County car accident after he and another pedestrian were struck by a vehicle. According to The Banning-Beaumont Patch, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at 5261 W. Wilson Street in Banning, the night of August 25, 2012. Officials say Azarnoff was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while the other pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
