Sarah Leaf, 29, was killed in a bicycle accident in Newport Beach after a stake-bed truck hit her, the morning of September 14, 2012. According to a news report in Corona del Mar Today, the fatal traffic accident occurred at the intersection of East Coast Highway and Bayside Drive. Police say Leaf was riding her bike on East Coast Highway and was preparing to make a right onto Bayside, when the truck driver, who was traveling in the same direction, attempted a right turn, struck and ran her over. Leaf died from her injuries. No arrests or citations have been reported yet.
My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who knew and loved Sarah Leaf. She was apparently a certified nutritionist at a local fitness center and spa. This is indeed a tragic incident! I offer my deepest condolences to her family members and friends.

A driver suffered major injuries in a Newport Beach car crash after colliding with a tree. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury crash occurred the morning of August 3, 2012 on Jamboree Road just north of Ford Road. The male driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. No one else was in the vehicle and no other cars were involved. Officials are looking into what caused this major injury crash.

At least one person was injured in a Newport Beach car accident, which officials say involved four vehicles. According to a news report in Corona Del Mar Today, the injury crash occurred at the intersection of San Miguel Drive and San Joaquin Hills Road, the evening of July 9, 2012. Police say the collision involved a Ford Expedition SUV, an Audi, a Toyota Camry, and a Subaru. One person was treated at the scene. It is not clear if anyone else was injured. Officials are still investigating the cause of this multi-vehicle collision.

A man in his 40s and his mother were injured in an Orange County dog bite incident involving three pit bulls. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the pit bull attack occurred at the Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas on Newport Coast Drive in Newport Beach, the morning of June 8, 2012. Officials say the two victims were staying at the hotel when the three dogs attacked them. Both mother and son were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police officers could not find a safe way to contain the animals and had to put them down. The three pit bulls were not wearing tags but investigators are trying to determine who their owner was.

A bicyclist suffered injuries in a Newport Beach car accident after colliding with a car at a street intersection. According to a news report in The Corona del Mar Patch, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of West Coast Highway and Newport Boulevard, the morning of March 22, 2012. Fire officials say the bicycle collided with a Honda at the intersection. The injured bicyclist was transported to an area trauma center. The nature and extent of the victim’s injuries is not yet known. Officials are still investigating the cause of this accident.

A 13-year-old boy, who was alone when three burglars broke into his Fullerton home, quickly alerted police, who captured one of the suspects, The Orange County Register reports. Officials say the three suspects entered the house on December 27, 2011 thinking no one was home.
