An 11-year-old boy and a woman suffered injuries in a Los Angeles car accident on Halloween night, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver. According to an NBC news account, the collision occurred at the intersection of East 92nd Street and Beach Street in Watts, the night of October 31, 2012.
Police say the victims were both wearing Halloween costumes and crossing the road when a silver Suzuki struck them and left the scene. Both were hospitalized, but the nature and extent of their injuries is not known. The car was found nearby with candy still on its damaged hood. Officials are trying to locate the driver. A pedestrian who attempted to help motorists involved in a multi-car collision on state Route 78 was struck and seriously injured by a driver, who fled the scene. According to a U-T San Diego news article, the major injury crash occurred the night of October 15, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say the 20-year-old female pedestrian may have entered the freeway from a street that runs parallel to Route 78. She had just checked on a woman whose Nissan Altima had crashed while trying to avoid a mattress on the freeway.
A Toyota pickup driven by a 30-year-old Encinitas man then hit the mattress and struck the Nissan. In addition, three other vehicles collided as they attempted to avoid the initial accident. The driver of the Nissan suffered moderate injuries and one other person suffered minor injuries. The car that struck the good Samaritan did not stop. A motorcyclist suffered injuries in a car accident in Anaheim, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred the morning of October 9, 2012 on the 57 Freeway near the 91 Freeway. California Highway Patrol officials stated that a Mercedes Benz sedan might have been involved in the crash. One of two good Samaritans, who saw the incident and stopped to help the injured motorcyclist, said she saw a gray sedan cross the double yellow lines separating the fast and carpool lanes.
The motorcyclist was struck in the carpool lane and hit the center divider. The sedan did not stop and continued north on the freeway. Another witness corroborated that account as well. Officials are still investigating the incident. The nature and extent of the motorcyclist’s injuries is not known.

Alcides Flores-Landaverde, 23, was killed in a Hemet car accident, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news account in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal crash occurred early morning on September 11, 2012 near the intersection of Florida Avenue and Juanita Street in downtown Hemet. Flores-Landaverde’s body was found in the street.
Police have released more information about the pickup truck that hit the victim and drove away from the scene. Evidence found at the scene indicates that the vehicle was probably a silver 2000 to 2004 Nissan Frontier that likely has front-end damage and chipped paint. Images supplied by the department also show a license plate trim with shark’s tooth spikes. The front grill of the vehicle was broken off and left at the scene. The pickup was last seen heading west on Florida Avenue. Anyone with information about this fatal hit-and-run car accident is urged to contact Hemet police at 951-765-2433 and refer to file number 12-900267.

Erin Galligan, 30, of Venice, was killed in a Santa Monica car accident when her bicycle was struck by a driver who failed to remain at the scene of the crash. According to a news report in The Venice-Mar Vista Patch, the fatal hit-and-run accident occurred along Pacific Coast Highway near Entrada Drive in Santa Monica the night of July 10, 2012. Galligan was riding southbound and on the right side of the street when the truck hit her. But the driver continued on to the 10 Freeway without stopping or slowing down.
Police say the impact of the collision threw Galligan some distance requiring police officers to search for her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The authorities are searching for the driver involved in the crash. The suspect is believed to have been driving a white, full-size GMC pickup truck that now has extensive front damage. Angel Bojorquez, 18, was killed in a San Diego traffic collision when a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche hit his bicycle and left him on the side of the roadway. According to a U-T San Diego news article, the fatal hit-and-run accident occurred on Via de la Valle near Paseo Delicias, the morning of July 6, 2012. Officials say Bojorquez was bicycling from Del Mar through Rancho Santa Fe when the Chevy pickup drifted into the bike lane and struck him. He was found in the brush along the shoulder of the roadway.
Jin Hyuk Byun, 19, was arrested the night of July 8, 2012 after a neighbor notified the authorities that the details regarding the hit-and-run car accident in the news matched Byun’s Avalanche. Officials obtained a warrant and arrested Byun on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
