Seven Injured in Temecula Car Accident

By John Bisnar on August 8, 2012 - No comments

A car crash in Temecula involving two vehicles left seven people injured the night of August 7, 2012. According to a report in the Southwest Riverside News Network, the injury crash occurred on the northbound Interstate 15 north of Winchester Road. One person was trapped and a total of seven people were transported to area hospitals. Of those, two were critically injured and five others suffered minor to moderate injuries. Officials are looking into what caused this injury crash.

My thoughts and prayers are with the many injured victims of this collision. I wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Car Crash Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were seven fatalities and 367 injuries involving Temecula car accidents in 2009. During the same year, 203 people died and 7,974 were injured as a result of car accidents in Riverside during the same year.

What Caused This Crash?

Based on this news report, it is unclear as to how or why this injury crash occurred. There are several unanswered questions here. How did the two vehicles collide? Did one of the drivers make an unsafe lane change? Was this a rear-end collision? Did alcohol, drugs, speed or some other form of negligence cause or contribute to this crash?

California Vehicle Code Section 22350 (Basic Speed Law) states: “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic and on surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.” I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.

Fault and Liability

In such cases, the at-fault motorist can be held liable for the injuries and damages caused. Injured victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. Victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced Riverside personal injury attorney who will analyze all facets of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
