Shady Drug PracticesA recent article in The New York Times talks about a pharmaceutical company using doctors with trouble pasts to market its painkillers.

The article gives the example of Dr. Judson Somerville, a Texas pain specialist who made $67,000 in speaking fees, travel and meals in 2013 to promote a powerful and addictive painkiller called Subsys, manufactured by Arizona-based Insys Therapeutics, Inc.

Fatal Westminster Motorcycle Accident

Motorcycle Accidents Victims are entitled to compensation for their injuries and lossesA man was killed in a Westminster motorcycle accident the afternoon of November 26, 2014, the Orange County Register reports. Police said the incident occurred the afternoon of November 26, 2014 at the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Gothard Street. Police say the collision occurred when a compact car traveling east on McFadden Avenue at Vassar Street made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. No charges were filed or citations issued against the car’s male driver. An investigation is ongoing.

Comedian Tracy Morgan Battling Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

Tracy Morgan Bus AccidentComedian Tracy Morgan is still fighting to recover from a severe traumatic brain injury he suffered in a highway crash more than five months ago on the New Jersey Turnpike.

According to an Associated Press news report, the former “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” star suffered a traumatic brain injury in the June 7 crash when he and several other comedians were riding a private limo van. Morgan also suffered a broken leg, nose and ribs.

Woman Cleared In Death Linked To GM Faulty Ignition Switch

GM RecallCandice Anderson was cleared in the death of her boyfriend, Gene Mikale Erickson, which occurred nearly a decade ago, which has now been tied to a General Motors defective ignition switch.

According to a news report in The New York Times, a judge in Texas cleared Anderson in the death of her boyfriend even though she had pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in the case years ago.

Anderson was only 21 at the time of the crash. She was driving her Saturn Ion when she inexplicably lost control and crashed into a tree. Erickson, her passenger, died at the scene.

Toyota Recalls Lexus Cars To Fix Fuel Leaks

toyota recallsToyota is recalling nearly 423,000 Lexus luxury brand cars to fix fuel leaks that can cause fires.

According to an Associated Press news report, the recalls involve the 2006-11 GS, 2007-10 LS and the 2006-11 IS models.

The Japanese automaker says that the cars’ fuel lines have nickel phosphate plating to protect against corrosion.

Some lines could have been built with particles coming in contact with a gasket.

Ford Recalls Fusion Vehicles For Ignition Defects

ford vehicle recallFord Motor Company has announced an auto defect recall for about 65,000 Fusion sedans in North America for ignition problems.

According to a Reuters news report, the key can be removed from the ignition even if the car is not in the “park” position 30 minutes after the ignition is off.

Ford has said it is not aware of any injuries or crashes as a result of this issue.
