One Injured in Anaheim Chain-Reaction Car Crash

By Brian Chase on July 3, 2012 - No comments

At least one person was injured in a traffic accident in Anaheim, which officials say involved three vehicles. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred in the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway near Euclid Street, the morning of July 2, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say the chain-reaction collision involved a Honda Odyssey, a BMW 530i and a Nissan truck. The female driver of the BMW was transported to an area hospital for complaints of pain. It is not clear if anyone else was injured.

My thoughts and prayers are with the injured victim of this three-car collision. I wish her the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Anaheim Car Crash Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 23 fatalities and 1,970 injuries in 2009 involving Anaheim car accidents. Also, during the same year, 141 people died and 13,373 were injured due to Orange County car crashes.

What Caused This Crash?

Based on this news report, officials say this was a chain-reaction collision involving three vehicles. However, there are a number of unanswered questions here. Did one of the drivers cause a rear-end collision? Did one of the vehicles make an unsafe lane change? Did alcohol or drugs play a part in this crash? Was one of the drivers distracted or inattentive at the time? Did speed play a part in this traffic accident? I trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.

Laws and Liability Issues

California Vehicle Code Section 22350 (Basic Speed Law) states: “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic and on surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.”

In such cases, the at-fault motorist can be held liable for injuries and damages caused. Injured victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, lost wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. Car accident victims would be well advised to contact an experienced personal injury attorney in Anaheim who will analyze all facets of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable.
