A woman and four children were injured in a Los Angeles area traffic collision after two vehicles crashed, the afternoon of September 2, 2012. According to a City News Service report, the injury collision occurred in the northbound lanes of the 170 Freeway at Sheldon Street in Sun Valley. California Highway Patrol officials say the woman and four children were in an SUV, which overturned after the collision. The ages of the children ranged from 3 to 13. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

One person was killed and five others were injured in a Riverside County car accident. According to a news report in The Desert Sun, the fatal rollover crash occurred on Interstate 10 near Date Palm Drive in Rancho Mirage. California Highway Patrol officials say the deceased man was a passenger in a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero. The vehicle rolled over after its left rear tire blew the morning of August 9, 2012. Rudolfo A. Flores, 23, was driving east when the tire blew.
Flores lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over. Three passengers, including the fatally injured victim, were ejected from the SUV. Flores and Daniel N. Hernandez suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Five others, identified as Julian I. Hernandez, 23, of Ontario; Jesse Galvan, 22, of La Puente; Jose J. Madera, 26, of Duarte; Oscar N. Peralta, 23, of Bell Gardens; Jacob Cruz, whose age and hometown are not known.

Four people from the same family were killed in a Bakersfield car accident after the tire tread on their Ford Excursion SUV separated and the vehicle rolled over. According to a news article in The Associated Press, the deceased victims were identified as Estella Castillo, 63, Juan Castillo, 11, Lino Castillo, 65, and Yolanda Castillo, 38. The driver Jose Castillo, 44 and his son, Marcos Castillo, 17, were injured, but survived.
California Highway Patrol officials say the family was in a 2001 Ford Excursion SUV heading home from Northridge on Highway 99 on June 17, 2012 when tread separated on the left rear tire. The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned. Estella Castillo was ejected. Officials suspected she was not buckled up. However, the three others who died from their injuries were wearing their seatbelts. Officials say a faulty tire, extreme heat (108 degrees at the time) and an overloaded vehicle may have caused or contributed to this tragic rollover accident.

Dennis Strong, 53, was fatally injured in a Riverside County car accident after he lost control of his vehicle, which then rolled over. According to a KESQ news report, the rollover accident occurred early morning on June 10, 2012 on Chuckwalla Valley Road near Corn Springs Road in an unincorporated area of Riverside County. Officials say Strong swerved to avoid an animal on the road and lost control of his Jeep, which overturned. Strong died from his injuries the following day at a Palm Springs hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

Laura Hall, 66, was killed in a San Diego car accident after the SUV in which she was a passenger was hit by another vehicle, the morning of April 25, 2012. According to 10News, the Toyota RAV4 carrying Hall and her family members was traveling in the northbound lanes of the 805 Freeway when it was struck by a 2005 Nissan Altima near Mira Mesa Boulevard. California Highway Patrol officials say the driver of the Nissan had swerved to avoid a sedan that veered into her lane. The SUV rolled over several times, before striking the center-divide. The Altima also hit a 2011 Toyota Tacoma pickup.
The SUV’s driver, 43-year-old Brian D. Thomas suffered broken ribs, cuts and bruises. His 42-year-old wide Rebecca and son Bryan, 8, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Daneisha Thompson, 22, a passenger in the back seat, suffered lacerations and bruises. Hall was transported to an area hospital with major head injuries and died later that day. The two other motorists who were involved escaped without injuries. The driver of the sedan who triggered the chain-reaction collision left the scene. Officials are looking for this hit-and-run driver. The vehicle has been described as a beige or silver Honda sedan.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family members and friends of Laura Hall for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. The grandmother was apparently traveling to Disneyland with her family for the first time. Tragic! My thoughts and prayers are also with the other injured victims. I wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

A 50-year-old Cypress woman was killed in a Riverside car accident after the Ford Explorer she was driving blew a tire and overturned in the center median. According to a CBS news report, the fatal rollover crash occurred on the 15 Freeway near Corona, the night of November 11, 2011. The woman was traveling at about 70 mph when the Explorer’s right rear tire blew out. She lost control of the vehicle, which then rolled over. The woman was ejected from the SUV. Officials suspect she was not wearing her seatbelt. The woman’s husband, who was a passenger in the front seat, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
