Christopher Waldrop, 24, of Riverside was killed in an Anaheim car accident after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle that was making a left turn. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the motorcycle collision occurred the morning of September 30, 2012 in the 100 block of East Orangethorpe Avenue. Police say Waldrop’s Yamaha motorcycle was westbound on Orangethorpe Avenue when a Buick Century traveling eastbound made a left turn in front of him. Waldrop was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 85-year-old driver of the Buick was not taken to the hospital. She has not been cited or arrested in connection with this incident. The investigation is ongoing.

California Highway Patrol Officer Andy Beasley was severely injured in a car accident in Sacramento County after his motorcycle hit a vehicle that had moments earlier been involved in a separate collision. According to a CBS13 news report the injury crash occurred the morning of September 25, 2012 in the westbound lanes of the Interstate 80 near Greenback Lane. Officials say a Chevy Cruze driven by 53-year-old Debra Andes was traveling in the number two lane, when it rear-ended a Toyota Corolla driven by 50-year-old Jessica Brown.
The impact pushed the Corolla into the number one lane, in front of Beasley’s motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the Corolla. Officer Beasley was ejected from the motorcycle and thrown onto the guardrail. He was transported to a local hospital with major injuries including multiple fractures, abrasions and a concussion. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening. It is not clear if any charges will be filed in this case. The investigation is ongoing.

Stephen Seyarto, 20, of Duarte, was injured in a car crash in Azusa after he struck a vehicle on the freeway. According to a news account in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the injury collision occurred eastbound on the 210 Freeway near Vernon Avenue, the morning of September 11, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say Seyarto was driving a 2005 Honda Shadow motorcycle when for unknown reasons, he collided with a Ford truck driven by Sergio Torres-Ramirez, 37, of Pacoima.
Seyarto was ejected from the motorcycle and was thrown onto the freeway lanes. Ramirez and other motorists stopped their vehicles after the collision and helped Seyarto get to the right shoulder emergency lane. Seyarto was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

I also commend the motorist and the passers by who stopped immediately and quite possibly saved Seyarto’s life by getting him to a safe location.

A motorcyclist suffered injuries in a Costa Mesa car crash after a car cut in front of him and caused him to lose control of his bike, the afternoon of August 15, 2012. According to a news report in The Newport Beach Independent, the injury crash occurred on 17th Street at Newport Boulevard. Costa Mesa police say the sport bike motorcycle was traveling east on 17th Street when a car cut in front of it. The motorcyclist, who was traveling at about 20 to 25 mph, laid his bike down to avoid the collision. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Family members said he may have suffered a dislocated shoulder. The investigation is ongoing.

Two people were injured in a San Diego pedestrian accident, which also involved a motorcycle. According to a news article in U-T San Diego, the injury crash occurred on East Mission Road west of Stagecoach Lane in Fallbrook. Officials say the motorcyclist, a 34-year-old Vista man was riding his 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle east on Mission, the afternoon of June 23, 2012 when he hit a 48-year-old Fallbrook man walking in the area. Both men were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. Officials do not believe alcohol or drugs played a part in this accident. The investigation is ongoing.

A motorcyclist suffered severe injuries in a San Diego car accident after a pickup struck his cycle. According to a U-T San Diego news report, the incident occurred the morning of June 21, 2012 at the intersection of South Rancho Santa Fe Road and the State Route 78 eastbound off-ramp in San Marcos. Officials say the motorcyclist was traveling south on South Rancho Santa Fe Road when a Chevy pickup truck that was exiting the freeway hit him. The motorcyclist suffered a broken pelvis and multiple cuts to his legs. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.
