A 14-year-old girl was injured in a San Diego car accident after a vehicle struck her on a San Marcos street. According to a 10news report, the girl was walking with her dog on Amberhill Terrace near Dove Tail Drive the morning of October 19, 2009 when they were struck. The teen was airlifted to a San Diego hospital while the dog died at the scene. The driver who hit the pedestrian remained at the crash site, police said.
My heart goes out to this young girl who has apparently suffered serious injuries in this car-pedestrian collision. I wish her the very best for a quick and complete recovery. I hope her injuries were not catastrophic. Please keep this young car accident victim in your prayers.

Based on this news report, it is not clear how or why this injury car accident occurred. It may have been the teen's fault or the driver's fault and I trust a police investigation will reveal all the facts of this case. Here are some questions that need to be asked here. Where was the girl walking at the time of the collision? Was she crossing the street? Was she in a marked crosswalk or intersection? Was she walking along the side of the street or was she walking in traffic lanes? Was there any obstruction that prevented her from walking on the sidewalk of the street? Was the driver impaired, speeding, distracted or negligent in any way?
Liability Issues in Car Accidents
If the motorist was at fault for this accident, then he or she could be held liable. The teen's family could seek compensation to cover medical expenses, cost of hospitalization, therapy and even long-term care expenses should that become necessary. If the driver was on-the-job at the time then his or her employer may also be held liable.
The victim's family in this case would be well-advised to consult an experienced
San Diego personal injury lawyer, who will examine every facet of the case and make sure they receive fair compensation for their injuries, damages and loss. A skilled car accident lawyer will also look into whether there was a dangerous condition on the roadway that caused or contributed to this injury accident. If that was the case, the governmental agency responsible for maintaining that roadway could also be held liable. Please remember that any claim against a governmental entity in California must be properly filed within 180 days of an accident or injury.
