An 18-year-old woman was critically injured in an Orange County car accident, after the car in which she was a passenger was rear-ended by a driver the morning of January 3, 2010. The Orange County Register reports that the injury car accident occurred at the intersection of South Main Street and MacArthur Boulevard in Santa Ana, near John Wayne Airport.
Officials said the incident involved a Toyota Scion, which was stopped at a red light on Main. The Scion was struck from behind by a BMW and pushed into the intersection where it then hit two other cars. The driver of the BMW got out of the car and fled the scene on foot, but was later arrested and identified as 36-year-old Robert Charles Serrano. The teenager was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. Police are looking into whether alcohol or drugs played a part in this crash. Serrano had apparently been in a bar shortly before this accident.
My heart goes out to this young woman and her family. I wish her the very best for a speedy and full recovery. She will certainly be in my prayers.

Leaving the Scene of an Accident
California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) states that motorists should not leave the scene of an accident irrespective of who was at fault. Drivers are required to remain at the scene and provide information including insurance, identification and contact details. In this case, it would be important to determine all the sources of negligence that led to the major injury crash.
Liability Issues
In such accident cases, victims and their families would be well-advised to consult a reputed Orange County personal injury attorney who has a successful track of record holding drunk or negligent drivers responsible for their actions.
