At least three people including a pedestrian were injured in a Los Angeles car accident the night of February 5, 2010, KTLA News reports. The major injury collision occurred at the busy intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. A car was northbound on Highland when its driver lost control, struck another car pushing it into a light pole. A female pedestrian was trapped between the light pole and the car. She was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries including, a possibly severed leg. The driver of one of the vehicles and another person were also hospitalized with injuries.
My heart goes out to everyone who was injured in this car accident, especially the female pedestrian who has been severely injured. I sincerely hope she did not lose her leg in this accident or suffered any catastrophic injuries. I wish her the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. She will certainly be in my prayers.
Accident Statistics

Car Accident Causes and Liability Issues
Based on this news report, it is not clear why the car on Highland initially lost control and triggered the collision, which caused these serious injuries. Was the driver going too fast given the slick road conditions that night? Was the driver impaired, distracted or driving recklessly? Was there a dangerous condition on the roadway that caused or contributed to this car accident? I trust the police investigation into this case will help shed more light on what exactly occurred here.
If this accident was caused by the driver of the first car, then he or she can be held liable for the victim's injuries, damages and losses. Losing a leg is an injury that affects a person for the rest of his or her life. A person's ability to perform a job he or she had before the accident or even keep that job may become an issue. In such cases, victims could seek compensation for medical expenses, loss of wages, lost future earnings, cost of surgery, prosthetics, rehabilitation, physical therapy and other expenses.

That injured victim was my ex-girlfriend. We still lived together but we recently broke up a month ago. My feelings never changed for her and I have never gone through so much pain in my life. I cant even be with her right now due to her not wanting to see me. I hope she will be compensated enough that she will live out the rest of her life comfortably without any financial issues. A part of me wants to find the piece of shit who drove that honda that night...but I know that wont do anything... I'd advise that everyone be a little careful when driving. A split second mistake took away my friends right leg. She was on vacation and this happens. Please keep her in your prayers...
