A woman and her 1-year-old passenger were injured in a San Francisco car accident when her vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant. According to CBS San Francisco, the injury car accident occurred at the intersection of 23rd and Mission streets in San Francisco early morning on May 2, 2011. For unknown reasons the 1995 Toyota Camry struck a fire hydrant at the intersection. The baby suffered life-threatening injuries and has been listed in critical condition. The driver sustained nonlife-threatening injuries. It is unclear what may have caused this serious injury accident. The relationship between the driver and the child is not known.
My thoughts and prayers are with the injured victims of this terrible car accident. I wish them both a complete and speedy recovery.

What Caused This Serious Injury Accident?
The report raises more questions then it answers. Was the motorist speeding or under the influence? The accident took place around 4 a.m. Was the driver fatigued? Did a second vehicle force the driver to veer out of control? Did an unsafe roadway or limited visibility play a role in this crash? Was this accident caused by an auto defect or mechanical malfunction? I trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine what occurred here and why.
Liability Issues
Victims of serious injury accidents may pursue financial compensation for their losses by filing a personal injury claim. When the injured victim is a minor, the family of the victim may file a claim on the victim’s behalf. In such cases, compensation may be available for medical expenses, hospitalization, surgeries and even rehabilitation and long-term care.
Car accident victims or their families would be well-advised to seek the counsel of an experienced San Francisco personal injury lawyer, who will better explain their legal rights and options.
