A woman was injured in a San Diego car accident after a suspected drunk driver crashed into her SUV and caused it to roll over. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the collision occurred the morning of March 14, 2010 at the intersection of East Palomar Street and Olympic Parkway in Chula Vista, when a 19-year-old driver ran a red light and broadsided a Ford Explorer SUV driven by a 51-year-old woman. The SUV rolled over and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries. The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving causing injury.
My heart goes out to the driver of the SUV who was injured in this DUI collision. I hope and pray her injuries were not serious and wish her the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. Please keep this victim in your prayers.
Alcohol-Related Crashes

Violation of Laws
It is a serious offense in California to drink and drive. It is also a violation to run a red light. According to California Vehicle Code Section 23152 (a): "It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle." Also, California Vehicle Code Section 21453 (a) states: "A driver facing a circular red signal shall stop at the limit line before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection, and shall remain stopped until an indication to proceed is shown."
Liability Issues
Victims who are injured in such cases where negligence or wrongdoing is apparent, would be well-advised to seek the counsel of an experienced Chula Vista personal injury lawyer, who will stay on top of the investigation and make sure that the negligent parties are held responsible for their actions. A skilled car accident lawyer should also advise victims about how their car insurance policy applies to a case that involves an uninsured or underinsured motorist.
