Orange County Motorcycle Accident Causes Critical Injuries

By Personal Injury Lawyer on February 18, 2010 - No comments

Fred Siller, 39, sustained critical injuries in an Anaheim car accident after his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle on the 91 Freeway near Brookhurst Street, The Orange County Register reports. The major injury motorcycle crash occurred the night of February 16, 2010 on the westbound side of the freeway. California Highway Patrol officials said Siller is still listed in critical condition. An investigation is ongoing.

I sympathize with this motorcycle accident victim and his family for what they are going through at this time. I truly hope Siller makes it through his injuries and has a complete recovery. This injured victim and his family will certainly be in my prayers.

Motorcycle Accidents

There were eight fatalities and 121 injuries involving motorcycle accidents in Anaheim in 2008, according to CHP's traffic accident statistics. In Orange County as a whole, 35 deaths and 801 injuries were reported as a result of motorcycle accidents in 2008. Also, countywide, car accidents claimed 152 lives and injured 13,414 people during the same year.

Accident Causes and Liability Issues

Based on this newspaper report, it is not clear how or why this motorcycle accident occurred. There are more questions here than answers. What type of vehicle was Siller struck by? Whose fault was the accident? Was Siller rear-ended or was this an accident that occurred during lane-changing? Was the driver of the other vehicle impaired, distracted, speeding or otherwise negligent? If I were a member of Siller's family, I'd definitely want answers to these questions.

If the driver of the other vehicle was at-fault for this accident, he or she could be held liable for the accident and the serious injuries caused to Siller. In such cases, victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, cost of hospitalization, surgeries, rehabilitation, physical therapy and other expenses.

Siller and his family would be well-advised to contact a skilled Anaheim personal injury lawyer, who has successfully represented motorcycle accident victims.
