Orange County Car Accident Injures Woman

By Admin on April 4, 2010 - No comments

Three people were injured in an Orange County car accident after two vehicles were struck by another car whose driver, authorities say, was operating erratically just before the collision. The Orange County Register reports that the injury collision occurred the afternoon of March 26, 2010 on the 5 Freeway near El Camino Real, in San Clemente. The driver of the Mercedes, who officials say was speeding and driving recklessly, slammed into the center divider after which the car struck a BMW and another car. The driver of the BMW sustained critical injuries. A passenger in the BMW and the driver of the other car were also taken to a local hospital with injuries.

It is indeed fortunate that this accident did not result in more injuries. I wish the injured victims the very best for a quick and full recovery. Please keep them in your prayers.

Car Accidents

According to CHP's 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 11 fatalities and 166 injuries involving car accidents in San Clemente. In Orange County as a whole, 152 fatalities and 13,414 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in 2008.

Who Was At Fault?

If the details of this news report are correct, it appears to me that the driver of the Mercedes was at fault for driving recklessly and causing this wreck. However, the sequence of events in this incident is not very clear. If the driver of the Mercedes is determined to have been driving recklessly, then he or she could be held liable for the accident and resulting injuries. I trust officials are also looking into whether the driver of the Mercedes was intoxicated at the time.

An experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer will not only be able to advise the injured victims about their legal rights and options, but also about how their car insurance policy applies to an incident involving an uninsured or underinsured driver.
