Orange County Car Accident Injures Three
December 16th, 2009 | JoyceThree people were seriously injured in an Orange County car accident, after a van and another vehicle collided near a street intersection in Westminster the morning of December 15, 2009. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the car crash happened at the intersection of Westminster Boulevard and Newland Street, when a Toyota Sienna van struck a Toyota Corolla. Emergency personnel transported two women and a man to a local hospital. A 45-year-old man sustained head injuries; a 47-year-old woman complained of abdominal pain and another 43-year-old woman may have suffered neck injuries, officials said. An investigation is ongoing.
I truly hope the injuries suffered by these three victims were not catastrophic. I wish all three victims of this injury accident the very best for a quick and complete recovery. They will certainly be in my prayers.
Orange County Car Accident Statistics
There were 10 fatalities and 559 injuries involving car accidents in Westminster in 2007, according to California Highway Patrol's Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In Orange County as a whole, 178 deaths and 14,185 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in 2007.
Based on this news report, it is not very clear how or why this collision occurred. There are more questions than answers, at this point. Did the accident occur at the intersection or near the intersection? Did one of the drivers fail to yield right-of-way to the other? Did one of the vehicles run a red light? Was either one of the drivers distracted, under the influence, speeding, driving recklessly or negligently at the time of the accident? I trust traffic investigators are looking into these issues and more, in order to determine who was at fault here.
