Five people were injured in a Newport Beach car accident after two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury accident occurred at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and Hospital Road the afternoon of August 9, 2010. The five people who sustained moderate injuries were taken to local trauma centers. Police officials say one of the vehicles initially went off the road, struck some objects before turning into oncoming traffic, and may have caused the crash. Authorities are looking into what led that driver to operate erratically.
My heart goes out to everyone injured in this crash. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.

What Caused this Crash?
Based on this news report, it is not quite clear what caused this driver to go off the roadway and then turn into oncoming traffic. There are several questions here. Was the driver of the car that caused the accident under the influence of drugs or alcohol? Was that driver behaving recklessly at the time of the accident? Did the driver suffer a medical condition or was he or she disoriented? I trust officials are looking at these and other issues in order to determine precisely who or what caused this head-on collision.
