Man Injured in Orange County Car Crash

By Personal Injury Lawyer on June 26, 2010 - No comments

An Orange County car accident resulted in serious injuries for a man who lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a sound wall on the Garden Grove Freeway. The Orange County Register reports that the accident occurred the morning of June 18, 2010 when the man's Toyota Camry veered off the lanes and struck the wall. Officials are investigating eyewitness accounts that the man may have been cut off by another vehicle or that the accident may have occurred as the Camry was changing lanes. An investigation is ongoing.

I sympathize with this injured victim and his family for what they are going through at this time. I pray that he recovers quickly and completely from his serious injuries.

Car Accidents

In Orange County, 152 people died and 13,414 were injured as a result of car accidents in 2008, according to California Highway Patrol's traffic accident statistics. During the same year, 12 deaths and 717 injuries were reported as a result of Garden Grove car accidents.

Causes and Compensation Issues

It is not clear based on this report, exactly what caused this major injury crash. We do not know if there was a mechanical problem or auto product defect in the Camry. We also do not know whether, as some witnesses said, the driver of the Camry changed lanes and suddenly found another vehicle in the same lane and then lost control. If another vehicle did cut him off or sideswipe the Camry, then police should be looking for that driver. In such cases, drivers who leave the scene of an accident can be charged with felony hit-and-run. However, so far, officials have said they don't see any evidence of a non-contact hit-and-run.

In such cases injured victims would be well-advised to contact an experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer who will stay abreast of the official investigation and make sure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.

What safety precautions do you normally take when you change lanes on the freeway?
