Three Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident
December 13th, 2009 | JoyceA Los Angeles car accident at a Bellflower street intersection left three people with injuries. According to The Long Beach Press Telegram, the car crash happened the night of December 9, 2009, near the intersection of Alondra Boulevard and Clark Avenue. All three victims were transported to area hospitals. But it is not clear how seriously they were injured. The collision involved a truck and car. Emergency personnel had to extricate one person who was trapped in one of the vehicles.
I sympathize with the victims of this car accident whose injuries were serious enough to require hospitalization. It is indeed fortunate that none of these victims sustained fatal injuries. I hope and pray that all of these victims recovery quickly and fully from their injuries.
Los Angeles Car Accident Statistics
There were six deaths and 358 injuries involving car accidents in Bellflower, according to California Highway Patrol's 2007 traffic accident statistics. Also, in Los Angeles County as a whole, 712 people died and 56,475 were injured as a result of car accidents during the same year.
I trust traffic accident investigators are looking into what caused this injury car accident and who may have been at fault for it. It is not clear, based on this report, whether this accident occurred at the intersection. If it did, then was it caused as a result of one of the drivers running a red light or failing to yield right-of-way? Both are serious traffic violations.
California Car Accident Laws
There are various California Vehicle Code sections that are part of what we commonly refer to as "rules of the road." These code sections address motorists' behavior at intersections, especially those controlled by traffic signals. California Vehicle Code Section 21453 (a) states: "A driver facing a circular red signal shall stop at the limit line before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection, and shall remain stopped until an indication to proceed is shown."
Victims of such car accident cases would be well-advised to contact a reputed Long Beach personal injury lawyer, who will keep up with the official investigation and make sure their legal rights are protected. A skilled car accident lawyer will also be able to advise victims about how their car insurance policy will apply to an accident where the other party is at-fault and is uninsured or lacks sufficient insurance coverage.
