According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the serious injury car accident occurred the afternoon of February 24, 2011 in the northbound lanes of Beach Boulevard near Slater Avenue. Police say the 29-year-old motorcyclist was transported to an area trauma center. The other vehicle, described as a Dodge Charge or Magnum-style sedan, did not stop at the scene. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling north on Beach. Anyone who saw this accident or has any information, is asked to contact the Huntington Beach Police Department at 714-536-5670.

Leaving the Scene of an Accident
Based on this news report, it is not quite clear how this car versus motorcycle accident occurred, but we know that the other driver fled the scene. Leaving the scene of an injury car accident is a serious crime under California law. California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) states: "The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident."
What kind of a person strikes and seriously injures another human being and then leaves him lying on the roadway without care or medical attention? This was an absolutely despicable act. I trust officials soon apprehend this driver and prosecute him or her to the fullest extent of the law. Compensation Issues
Victims of hit-and-run car accidents would be well-advised to contact an experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer, who will stay abreast of the official investigation and make sure that the victim's legal rights and best interests are protected. A knowledgeable car accident lawyer should also inform victims about how their own car insurance policy applies to a hit-and-run incident where the driver is never found, or, in a case where the at-fault motorist is uninsured or underinsured.
