California Highway Patrol Officer Brett Oswald, 47, was killed in a car accident the night of June 27, 2010 in San Luis Obispo after he was struck by a vehicle on River Road. According to a news report in the Lompoc Record, Kaylee A. Weisenberg, 22, the driver of the Toyota Corolla that hit Oswald, was charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in connection with this fatal crash. Read the rest »

 

Los Angeles Hit-and-Run Car Accident Proves Fatal

Tyrone L. Jones, 39, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident while crossing the street on June 26, 2010. According to a CBS News report, Jones was crossing near Broadway and 92nd Street in South Los Angeles, when a green Chevrolet Lumina struck him. Los Angeles police officials found him lying on the ground. Jones died at the scene and the vehicle that struck him fled the scene. California Man Seriously Injured in Bicycle Accident

A 56-year-old man from Lodi, California, was seriously injured in a car accident in Ada County, Iowa the morning of June 26, 2010 after he was struck by two vehicles. According to a KTVB news report, the cyclist was riding north on Highway 55, when a 34-year-old man driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero north on the highway, clipped the bicyclist with the passenger side mirror of his SUV. The rider fell off the bicycle and on to the highway where he was hit by a Ford pickup whose driver was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. Hit-and-run Collision in Los Angeles Proves Fatal

California Highway Patrol officials are looking for a hit-and-run driver in connection with a fatal car accident on the 405 Freeway, which killed 31-year-old Brandon David Brown. According to a CBS News report, Brown crashed his Toyota Tercel into the back of an SUV that was stopped in the carpool lane of the freeway the morning of June 20, 2010. Man Injured in Orange County Car Crash

An Orange County car accident resulted in serious injuries for a man who lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a sound wall on the Garden Grove Freeway. The Orange County Register reports that the accident occurred the morning of June 18, 2010 when the man's Toyota Camry veered off the lanes and struck the wall. Officials are investigating eyewitness accounts that the man may have been cut off by another vehicle or that the accident may have occurred as the Camry was changing lanes. San Diego Man Killed in Big Rig Crash

Frederick Matthews, 41, was killed in a fiery truck accident in Nevada, after he lost control of his rig and crashed. According to a 10news report, Matthews was hauling a load of lumber on June 21, 2010, when the truck speeded out of control to about 100 mph. He then entered a runaway truck ramp in an attempt to slow the truck down. The ramp was in fact designed to slow such runaway trucks, but failed to do so in this case. Woman Killed in Sacramento Car Accident

Lolita Buenviaje, 49, was killed in a Sacramento car accident the night of June 13, 2010 after the car in which she was a passenger blew a tire and rolled over. According to a news report, the fatal accident occurred on the northbound 5 Freeway just north of the Pete Miller Road overcrossing, between the Newman and Gustine exits. Officials said Buenviaje was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the 2005 Chevrolet. The driver of the Chevy, 46-year-old Arnel Buenviaje, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital. San Diego Boy Drowns in Neighbor's Backyard Pool

Nicholas Norman, 5, died in a swimming pool accident in a backyard pool the night of June 20, 2010. According to a 10news report, Nicholas was found floating face-down in the pool behind a next-door neighbor's home on Loma Alta Drive in San Diego. Los Angeles Car Accident Kills Motorist

Worker Suffers Major Injures On-the-Job

A worker sustained critical job injuries the morning of June 19, 2010 after he fell into a multi-blade grinder and lost both his legs. According to an ABC News report, the major injury accident occurred at the Jobbers Meat Packing Company at Fruitland Avenue and Downey Road in Vernon. The worker's leg was amputated above the knee by the machine, which is described as a type of meat grinder. The worker was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
