A teenager who was killed in a San Francisco car accident the evening of January 27, 2010 has been identified as 15-year-old Michelle Cordova. The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that the teenager was walking in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Orion Swank struck her. The fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of West College Avenue and Link Lane in Santa Rosa. Michelle was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Two Teenagers Severely Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident
Two teenagers – 18-year-old Jose Gomez and a 16-year-old passenger -- suffered serious injuries in a Los Angeles car accident after their vehicle crashed into a telephone pole in Newhall the afternoon of January 26, 2010. According to a news report in The Santa Clarita Signal, Gomez and his teen passenger suffered severe head and facial injuries in the crash. Investigators say Gomez was driving a Honda Civic north on Sierra Highway when he lost control. The vehicle went over a curb and slammed into the pole. Officials believe slick road conditions could have played a part and that Gomez was doing about the 50 mph speed limit. Read the rest »
San Diego Car Accident Kills Woman
Bridgette T. Hale, 36, was killed in a San Diego car accident after a wrong-way driver crashed into her vehicle on Highway 67 in Lakeside. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, Hale's Chevy Astro van collided head-on with an Oldsmobile 98 that was heading north in the southbound lane of the highway near Johnson Lake Road the afternoon of January 26, 2010. California Highway Patrol officials said 51-year-old John Hallaway, the driver of the Oldsmobile, suffered major injuries. Eyewitnesses said he crossed over the double yellow lines and was going the wrong way for at least a quarter mile as several drivers swerved out of the way. Read the rest »
Woman Killed in San Bernardino Car Accident
Gina Ziesing, 44, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing Highway 62. According to a news report in The San Bernardino Sun, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the night of January 24, 2010, when Ziesing was crossing the highway in Yucca Valley. Los Angeles Car Accident Seriously Injures Pedestrian
A pedestrian sustained serious injuries in a Los Angeles car accident the afternoon of January 25, 2010, the Pasadena Star News report. The major injury pedestrian accident occurred in the 100 block of East Huntington Drive in Arcadia, when a vehicle heading east on Huntington struck the man. The victim, who has not yet been identified, and described only as a man in his 40s, sustained head trauma and a broken collar bone. He was transported to a local hospital where he is said to be in stable condition. The 21-year-old driver of the car was uninjured. She was not cited pending an official investigation. Patient Suffers Injuries due to Hospital Error
A patient at a Newport Beach hospital sustained personal injuries after she was placed on a metal gurney that was pulled into an MRI machine. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach has been fined $50,000 by the California Department of Public Health for this incident, which according to records, occurred in January 2009. The powerful magnet in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine pulled the gurney into the machine and her leg was trapped for about three minutes. Fatal San Bernardino Car Accident
A man who sustained fatal injuries in a San Bernardino car accident has been identified by local authorities as 23-year-old Justin Chang of Hacienda Heights. The Whittier Daily News reports that Chang lost control of his vehicle on the Highway 395 the night of January 15, 2010. His Toyota Scion crashed near mile marker 61. Chang's Toyota went off the highway and into the northbound lane where he was struck by a Honda van. Chang died at the scene of the crash. Read the rest »
One Fatality in Orange County Car Accident
Authorities have identified 67-year-old Jose Elizondo as the victim of an Orange County car accident that occurred the afternoon of January 15, 2010. The Orange County Register reports that the fatal car crash occurred on the 5 Freeway in San Juan Capistrano near the Junipero Serra Road off-ramp, when the Ford Taurus driven by Elizondo clipped a Nissan Sentra. The Taurus then went off the roadway, rolled over and landed on a clump of cactus. A female passenger in the Ford was taken to an area hospital with injuries. Occupants in the Sentra were uninjured. Riverside Car Accident Kills Worker
Paul John Rado, 62, was killed in a Riverside car accident the morning of January 19, 2010 after the company truck he was driving left Highway 189 and crashed. According to a news report in The Mountain News, Rado, an employee with Arrowhead Alarms, was returning to his company's headquarters after his morning rounds, in the Blue Jay area, when the fatal accident occurred. Rado's 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck was located down an embankment off the roadway, and on its roof, by one of his co-workers, who went out to look for him when he did not return to work. California Highway Patrol officials said Rado was found in the driver's seat with his seatbelt in place. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Read the rest »
