Tom Antunovich - California Personal Injury Attorney
Tom Antunovich likes the fact that he is not working for a large corporation; that he is not on the payroll of a multi-national corporation or a Fortune 500 company.
What Antunovich likes about being on the Bisnar Chase team of personal injury lawyers is that he gets to speak up for the little guy.
"I represent an individual or a small group of individuals. People who might not otherwise have access to justice so they can right the wrongs that have been committed against them."
Antunovich is an Orange County native. He graduated from Troy High School, a prestigious magnate school in Fullerton and got his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Cal Poly Pomona in 2010 where he also competed on the NCAA Div. II Men’s Soccer Team on an athletic scholarship. He attended Western State College of Law and graduated with honors in May 2015. In July 2015, he passed the California Bar examination.
As a student at Western State College of Law, Antunovich was a member of the school’s mock trial team. He also recalls his experience in the school's immigration clinic where he helped a woman from El Salvador apply for asylum in the United States.
"I knew even then that I wanted to help people who couldn't get that help otherwise," he said. "I've always had a special place in my heart for those who have been marginalized, the Davids who are fighting the Goliaths."
Antunovich was no stranger to Bisnar Chase. When he was a student, Antunovich worked for a little over two years with the personal injury law firm's attorneys helping them with trial preparation. During his time at Bisnar Chase, Antunovich proved himself as a young man with passion and potential, said H. Gavin Long, one of the firm's injury lawyers.
"I could see that Tom had the eagerness to learn. He is a fast learner, a diligent worker and an individual who genuinely cares about people. If you're going to be a personal injury lawyer, you have to be empathetic while being a bulldog that fights for clients' rights. Tom has those qualities, 100 percent."
Antunovich, who said he looks up to Long as a mentor, said he learned a lot from his experience clerking at the firm. He got an insight unlike any other into what it takes to be a personal injury lawyer. There were some things he learned as an insider that surprised him as well.
"I was shocked to see how hard insurance companies fight against people who are legitimately injured," he said. "I was also shocked to see doctors hired and paid for by insurance companies testify against injured victims. It just motivates me even more to fight harder for my clients."
Antunovich said he is acutely aware of his job's importance.
"These people we take on as clients – their lives depend on us. I make sure that the work I put into every case reflects that. It means a lot to me because it means a lot to my clients. It makes me want to fight and it makes me want to win."
When he's not working for his clients, Antunovich enjoys playing soccer, watching his favorite action movies, supporting his favorite sports teams: Los Angeles Lakers and Manchester United Red Devils, and spending time with his family.
